He leaned back into his seat and his brows furrowed. He had never imagined that I would react that way and it was obvious that this wasn't one of my tantrums —it was as real as could be.

He fixed his expression as he watched me turn around to leave the house. Mary ran towards me with a lunch bag which I presumed carried my breakfast.

“Should I go after her, Sir?” Xander's right hand man whispered but not low enough.

As I opened the door, I knew he had told the man to let me be because no one came after me.

I felt a wave of guilt wash over me as I sat in the car during the long drive to the company.

“I shouldn't have been so rude.”

I exhaled loudly and closed my eyes. Something nudged me to send him an apology text message or something but I pushed it away.

“He never apologized to me when he was being mean,” I thought to myself.

I recalled the events of last night and how Bruce made me laugh until I fell asleep. It felt good after a long period of toxicity.
