Chapter 35

In tbe third floor’s hallway, Taylor’s eyes darted around the place in confusion after hearing him.

Poor? Who grew up poor?

“Hey, what are you doing standing there? Ella said to tell you she doesn’t have the whole day!” The shrill voice of someone in her department drew her out of her reverie.

The man had long left, but she was still standing in the hallway staring blankly at where he previously stood.

She hurried back to her department and to her desk where she gave the photocopies to Ella Holland.

When she arrived, Ella raised her eyes to look at her and half shouted, “What took you so long? I clearly told you I didn’t have the whole day!”

Something snapped in Taylor at being shouted on, but she just clenched her jaw tightly and continued stretching the photocopies towards Ella.

Biting down the harsh retort trying to make it way out of her mouth, she met Ella’s eyes and smiled at her faintly, “My apologies, I had problems with the printer, so someone came to help me.”
