Regina stood in front of her with both hands folded across her shoulders, her stern gaze fixated on Heidi.

Heidi shifted on the bed. “Mum-”

Her mother snatched the phone from her hand. She glanced at the caller's name and cut the call. “Are you keen on angering everyone in this family, Heidi? Didn't you listen to your Grandfather's order? You were going to answer the call, weren't you?”

Heidi remained quiet, and she lowered her head.

Knowing how much her family hated Lucas, she'd rather not irk her mother off who was already a ticking bomb.

“Heidi- Heidi- Heidi…” Her mother sat beside her and dropped a heavy palm on her shoulder, making her flinch. “You're so full of surprises, aren't you?”

“Mum-”

“Tell me, are you still in love with Lucas Harrison?” Her mother made her look up, peering into her eyes. “Is that why you spent those months with him and sought no other alternatives?”
