Aurora's POV
Night wasn't showing any mercy. It was like the sky was crying its heart out with the mourn for someone beloved.
The wind was angry, slapping and breaking everything which comes in its way.
Many predicted that the town was going to flood that day because streets were looking like small rivers.
I had left the library early that night because I knew I won't get a cab if I leave at the usual time. The senior allowed and I booked a cab.
"Looks like something bad is going to happen..."
The driver said while driving through the busy street.
Roads were jammed due to heavy rain and everyone was eager to go home safely. I had never seen such traffic for a long time.
I love dark rainy nights, they are fascinating and I feel that they hold something mysterious in them. They are saga!
But that night was a nightmare for everyone. It didn't start the saga but the misery for me.
My cab finally made its way out of the busy streets and got on the way to my home which is isolated.
The driver suddenly stopped and I frowned.
"The fallen tree has blocked the road. I can't go ahead"
He informed me and I looked out of the window.
The tree was huge and had covered the whole street, there wasn't any way to go ahead.
"I'll walk from here, it's not far"
I got out and opened my umbrella.
I paid him and he kept looking at my face while I was making payment. It's not new, people stare at me. I used to feel awkward when I was a teenager. but as I grew up I realised that they only see outer beauty and nothing else.
My mother had an incredible beauty which was passed down to me. It's not like I didn't enjoy it, who doesn't like being beautiful but little did I know that my beauty was going to be a big enemy of mine.
"I am probably the same age as your daughter, don't look at me like that"
I said and he looked away embarrassed.
He reversed the car and disappeared into the rain again.
I sighed and turned around, my umbrella wasn't doing a good job to protect me from the rain, it wasn't its fault either as the storm was strong.
I looked at the fallen tree, It was huge with a straight stem. How tragic it is to see that no matter how strong you are, you can't survive all storms.
My house was five minutes away from there, I started walking but I was completely drenched. I finally saw my house and sighed in relief that I'll be saved from the harsh rain.
But my legs halted in place when I saw a stranger at the gate of my house. Chills ran down my spine thinking that he was trying to break in but then I noticed that he was struggling to stand.
His one hand was on his stomach while with another he was trying to open the gate. He was injured. He didn't look like a thief either. His clothes were drenched but didn't give up the expensive look. He was tall even if his legs were not supporting him.
I rushed towards him.
"Excuse me!"
I yelled as the rain weakened my voice.
He stopped and tried to look at me but couldn't. He was weak and on the verge of passing out. Rain was slapping his face and stopping him from looking at my face.
I looked at his hand which was on his stomach and my eyes widened when I saw blood mixing with the rain drops.
"What happened to you?"
It was stupid of me to expect any answer from him when he couldn't even stand properly.
I thought maybe he got into the accident because of the rain, he was looking for help near my house because there was no one else till you go ahead the miles.
"Let's get you inside, you don't look good"
I tried to get hold of his arm and his body fell on mine. He was heavy and could have passed out at any time. I needed to get in before he falls unconscious because it would have been difficult to carry a huge man like him.
I grabbed him with both hands and my umbrella flew away, I let it go errands because I was drenched anyway and the storm had broken it.
I placed his arm on my shoulder and led him inside. It wasn't easy. I finally managed to drop him on the couch and he passed out.
His head hung back as his heavy body creaked my old couch. Thankfully it was leather so it didn't soak water.
I tapped on his cheek but he didn't wake up. His wound was bleeding or it was water with mixed blood, I didn't understand because his shirt wasn't torn. Which means he didn't get injured now. It was an old wound.
I hesitated before touching a stranger and lifting his shirt up but I had to do it. It was an already stitched wound which was bleeding. Maybe he put pressure on it or stressed it which made it bleed. There won't be any doctors coming here at this time so I had to take the call.
Thankfully the stitches weren't ripped. I hurriedly grabbed the medical kit and blocked the bleeding.
Removed his shirt and with much difficulty I laid him on the couch which wasn't of his size but for the time being it was the best option.
His pants were also wet but I had no courage to take off the pants of a stranger even if it meant to help him. I just grabbed my dryer and tried to dry his pants to some extent so at least he won't get pneumonia.
I was stupid to help him, a fool to bring him into my house and dumb to save his life. That night I saved his life to destroy mine. Only if I knew.
I went to my room leaving the unconscious stranger in the living room with the thought of what if he died there. What if he doesn't wake up in the morning. What if he gets medically serious.
I should have let him die that day. He wasn't just an innocent passerby who was the victim of the storm. He was the storm himself.
I slept with all those thoughts and when I woke up the morning was calm. All the sunshine, like the morning after the storm should look like.
I freshened up and went out to check on the man lying in my living room. He was still asleep. His clothes were dried. My eyes wandered on his face, thought that God had definitely graced him with the beauty but I was wrong. God can't make a human like him, he is actually not a human but the devil who has fallen straight from hell. This beauty is just a mask because the inside is more ugliest than the screeching creature of the dark night.
I couldn't find it out that morning, for me it was just a normal morning with the injured stranger in my house. I checked his fever and he was normal.
I decided to let him sleep until I make breakfast and then wake him. I wanted to know who he was and how he ended up in front of my house.
I was almost done with breakfast, I placed the juice glass on the tray and turned around to grab a napkin. I gasped loudly and flinched back when I saw him standing close behind me.
His eyes were grey with the hint of silver, staring straight into my soul. He stood like a rock, unfazed by the wound on his stomach. So tall that I hardly reach his chest.
"You are up?"
I smiled at him and his eyes refused to leave my face. He wasn't the first one to freeze on my face but his eyes gave me real chills. My insides shook with just one look, his eyes held that power.
"Are you feeling good now?"
I stepped aside to maintain some distance.
He was still staring at me. Like he has seen something incredible. That look was something which we gave when we finally found the thing we were looking for a long time but couldn't find it.
"Who are you?"
His voice was heavier than his body.
I turned around to grab a tray.
"I should ask you that..."
I turned around with a smile and went to the dining table.
"You were trying to break into my house when I came back from work... You were injured and almost unconscious so I decided to help you..."
"Why?"
His face was straight and sceptical like he didn't want to believe that we can help someone without reason.
"Because that's humanity"
I shrugged.
His eyes finally left my face and wandered on my body. I was wearing a skirt and blouse.
He pulled out the cigarette from his pocket and placed it on his lips. I didn't like it.
"You shouldn't smoke when you are injured..."
I said and he stopped midway before lighting it.
He smirked while tossing it in the bin and looked at me amused.
I frowned when he walked towards me. He came close enough to push me against the table and it made me uncomfortable.
His sceptical eyes turned amused as he leaned to my level.
"Name?"
He demanded.
I coward back with his demanding tone, it was the first realisation that I brought a problem into my house.
"Aurora"
I gulped while trying to grab the butter knife which was lying just behind me.
He smirked and placed a strawberry on my lips which he picked up from the breakfast plate. My mouth subconsciously opened and let him feed it to me. He watched me fascinatingly as my lips took the fruit in.
"Butter knife is not the right weapon. find something stronger, You are going to need it."
He plopped another strawberry in his mouth and pushed his body away from mine.
I was in shock, and didn't understand what to do until I heard him closing the main door.
He left for that day but he came back with darkness which consumed me.
Aurora's POV I dried myself and wore full clothes to hide marks on my body. I don't remember when was the last time I wore my favourite dresses. The thing is I don't even have my favourite dresses because he didn't let me keep any. He let me walk out when he was done cleaning my body. I changed and quickly gulped down the painkillers. I can't work with the aching body all day. I turned around when he came out with the towel hanging low on his waist and I looked down when he eyes met mine. My face held nothing but submission and I hate it. My heart cries knowing that I can't fight against him. He wore his clothes and I loathed the thing that now my house holds his things too. He comes and behaves like he owns it. He owns me. I feel suffocation whenever he is around, whenever his eyes hold me captive. I constantly feel his hand around my throat. My room is big enough to roam around without colliding with each other but he never likes when I try to distance from him. My eyes
Aurora's POV I literally ran towards the car and got in while slamming the door shut. I won't be surprised if I get a heart attack in the coming days. "Woah! Slow down, beauty..." Catherina chuckled. "I wasn't going to leave you behind..." "Sorry" I replied, maybe I slammed her car door too rough. "Why are you saying sorry" She chuckled and started the car. "Now that I realised, you never really talk to me... You just say sorry and thank you..." I looked out of the window as she started rumbling, Catherina loves to talk and I love to hear her talk. She gives me hopes that I am still in the normal world. "By the way you are blushing today, I mean your cheeks and nose are tinted pink... It suits you, are you using a new blush or something?" How do I tell her that it's because I cried. Yeah! And the blush name is Rafael Delgado. "I don't use makeup" I chose to say instead. She always asks me what my skincare is and what made up products I use, she often checks my purse f
Aurora's POV I stepped back when he stepped forward. Adrenaline rushed inside me and I grabbed the butter knife while placing the paper bag on the table. "Leave. Now!" I pointed the knife at him. He was in his place amused while I was scared to the core not understanding what he wanted. Did I save some serial killer that night, that thought terrified me. He chuckled and stepped forward making me alert, my hold on the knife tightened as forehead started sweating. I was glaring at him but nothing seemed to phase him. I had also forgotten my mobile in the bedroom. "Butter knife! Last time I told you that you need something stronger." He chuckled mockingly. "I doubt this one is going to help you" "What do you want?" I asked not to take my eyes off of him. "You!... All of you, every inch and piece of you, your body, your smile, your tears, your pain..." He stated in determination. "Your soul and everything!" I looked at him in disbelief not getting what he meant by t
Aurora's POV I struggled, did whatever I could do to get hold of something or someone. Hands couldn't help but struggled to hold on to the water which wasn't possible. Legs couldn't find the ground to stand. Eyes were closed and saw nothing but darkness, lungs burnt without oxygen and head filled with the water through nose. It felt like my heart would come out of my chest and float in the water. My heart felt more pain than my body. I was about to pass out but then a strong hand pulled me up. I clutched on the hand tightly and sucked in the breath, took in as much as I could do like I am not going to get air again. My eyes opened as I kept gasping for the air. Eyes were burning due to water. Those mischievous grey orbs mocked me. Rafael was holding me up. "I have a phobia of water, please... Leave me!... I'll die!" I pleaded and tried to get out of the water but he held me back firmly. He was standing in the water like a king, and water wasn't even reaching his chest while
Aurora's POV I stepped back when he placed me down. I know my eyes had shown him nothing but my weakness. I was still trembling with the cold and my hair was dripping. He looked at me with a blank look like he didn't notice me stepping back but he did. He noticed it and that was my first realisation that if he is calm then he is more mad. "We can visit the swimming pool again, if you insist..." He cocked his eyebrow. "Are you going to rape me?" I sobbed while clutching on my arms tightly as if it would have saved me. "Rape?" He chuckled. "I would call it pleasure..." I followed his movements when he went to my closet and grabbed a towel. I couldn't understand what he meant, how can I get pleasure when I don't want him to touch me. When I am terrified of him. I flinched when he stood behind me and started drying my wet hair. He ruffled them gently. "Rape is when woman doesn't enjoy it, it hurts her, she feels disgusted and she doesn't feel good..." I stood there froz
Aurora's POV That night I slept like my soul had left my body, it was almost like I was unconscious due to drowning. But that nightmare didn't leave me alone, I was a seven year old child when I was playing around the pool with my puppy. He ran towards the pool, I quickly grabbed him so he wouldn't drown himself, his one leg was injured and dad had rescued him from the streets. I bonded with him quickly. I was about to get up when someone kicked me from behind and I fell into the pool along with the puppy. Same darkness, burning of lungs, feeling of body getting numb and not getting anything to hold on, fear of death, everything was the same. Someone pulled me out, it was Dad. He rescued me. "How the hell did you end up in the pool" He yelled at me, but it didn't matter because I was numb. I was shocked. When I recovered, Dad told me that the puppy died after drowning. I still regret that day and my fear of water got stronger. I don't remember who kicked me but all I heard
Aurora's POV I was reading a book after having dinner. Occasionally checking that officers are still out. It was almost past ten and I was wondering if he was going to come that night. What if he came but saw police at the door and went back? A part of me wanted him to come and get caught by police and a part of me wanted him to disappear and never come back like he never existed. I looked at the book again and realised that I was just looking at the page and was thinking about something else. I wasn't reading at all. My mind wasn't working properly, I was scared. My fear came to reality when I heard noise outside. He was out there! I clutched the book tightly as my stomach churned. I thought I won't be scared as the police were out but I was wrong, he scared me even with that hope. I placed the book down and got out of the bed, my hands trembled as I twisted the lock and opened my bedroom door. My soul almost knocked out of my body when I saw Rafael in the living room. H
Aurora's POV "Which book you were reading?" He asked while shuffling through pages of the book I was reading before that chaos. Bodies are still on the floor, one had a bullet in the chest and the other had a bullet in the head. I was shaking uncontrollably, not knowing how bullets hit the exact spot. Rafael was normal, unaffected by the bodies like it was his daily work. I had no idea how he managed to stay so calm. What was his profession, what does he do for living? I wondered. He again took a seat beside me which he left to freshen up and that's how he found my book. "Mind giving me some insights of the story, I am bored!" He was mocking me. I was still in shock, my eyes weren't living bodies. He just added to my list of nightmares. He holds the craziness which I wouldn't even imagine in my dreams. I couldn't deal with him. If the police couldn't believe me then I was ruined, that was my only hope. "It's a thriller story" I mumbled staring blankly at bodies which
