68. The Vanishing Truth

Lara hesitated as she approached the mysterious woman's room. The door was slightly open, and as she got closer, she heard fragments of conversation drifting out. "I'm responsible for the murder in the mental..." the woman's voice faded off.

Lara's heart raced as she overheard the mysterious woman's confession.

Startled by the woman's sudden movement, Lara swiftly withdrew behind the safety of a nearby wall, her heart pounding with fear. Silently, she slipped away, her footsteps barely audible as she hurried from the scene, eventually finding herself in the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Lara spotted Marissa and, unable to contain her anxiety any longer, she grabbed Marissa's hand, pulling her aside.

"What's up, Lara?" Marissa asked, worried as she saw Lara's distressed expression.

"I'm sorry, Miss Marissa, but I need to talk to you," Lara whispered, her voice shaking with fear as she got ready to reveal the unsettling news she had just found.
