CHAPTER FORTY: She Left

CASSIUS'S POV

Upon arriving at the hotel, Mary and I checked into our room. As soon as we entered, I yanked my arm from hers and walked over to the bed. I jumped onto the bed, grabbed my phone and decided to check the company's forums because I was sure everyone would be thrilled about this trip especially since they got a chance to lodge at one of our most expensive hotels.

"Why the heck did you do that? Did I offend you again?" Mary asked.

I didn't reply, which only seemed to frustrate her more.

"Cassius, I'm talking to you right now, and I think I demand an answer. Why did you yank your hand off mine?"

Her questions were annoying, and I wondered if she’s deliberately doing this. I dropped my phone and sat up, with my gaze fixed on her.

"Are you done?"

"No, I'm not. I still have a lot of things to say."

She fiddled with her fingers and bit her lower lip, indicating her tension. I wondered if it was a common thing in their family because Emelia used to do the same.
